Jack Campbell has been the Toronto Maple Leafs' #1 goalie for a while now and has earned the love and respect of the Maple Leafs' faithful.

That being said, his importance to the overall structure of the team can't be denied, in real money terms, he and Kyle Dubas may be on different planets at this point.

The news from Agent Kurt Overhardt, Campbell's agent was that the sides were no longer holding materially significant contract conversations, which is troubling, as Petr Mrazek will be gone undoubtedly and if Campbell is gone, the Leafs may have to ride Joseph Woll and Erik Kallgren until they find a starter.

This has been the latest development since the end of the Maple Leafs' season.

It seems the Maple Leafs' base may be in more pain, if this is how Kyle Dubas is moving, without even trying to get assets for either goalie.

He got off to a blistering start: 12-4-1, with a .946 save percentage and three shutouts in his first 18 outings. Then, the bottom dropped out. Campbell kept winning, but stumbled for the better part of three months. He posted a save percentage of .889 from the start of December until the second week of March the third-worst mark of any goalie that played in at least 15 games.

Which answers the questions, is he a regular-season goalie or is he viable post-season? However, if Campbell won't take a team discount, there are teams who need depth. This is an unfortunate development for the team.
