Top Prospect cleared to resume practice after finishing cancer treatment
Ivan Miroshnichenko has been considered a top NHL prospect in the 2022 entry draft.
Miroshnichenko is from Ussuriysk, and is located in Siberia near the Chinese/Russian border. Miroshnichenko moved to Moscow to play youth hockey with Buran Voronezh, and played his U16, U17, and U18 with Vityaz Podolsk.
Miroshnichenko ranked ninth in Sportsnet's 2022 NHL Draft prospect rankings February edition. According to Sam Cossentino, his "shot and skating ability translate well already and he's not far off with the rest of his game."
So imagine the shock when Miroshnichenko found out he had a form of Hodgkin's Lymphoma back in March. Fortunately, it was a common type that is treatable, and has been receiving treatment in Germany, his determination to get back to the sport has paid off.
Ivan Miroshnichenko has completed treatments for Hodgkin's lymphoma and is cleared to return to practice. The goal is to resume playing next season, per NHL Central Scouting director Dan Marr.
Miroshnichenko has spent time recently in the MHL, VHL and tallied 10 goals and 16 points in the VHL and 4 goals and 9 points in 5 games with Russia U18 at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
