Leafs Coach Accuses Refs Of Making Up Penalties
The Tampa Bay Lightning are hosting the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 4 of their first round series. The officiating has become a hot topic in the list questions for the Toronto media. Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe has steered right into it, going as far as saying the Lighting have manipulated the referees at points in the series.
Tampa have been in the drivers seat for much of the game, taking a 2-0 lead to the room after the first, thanks to goals from Alex Killorn and Mikhail Sergachev.
The physicality picked up in the late in the second with scrums after whistles becoming a frequent occurrence. With the score 4-1 late in the second period another scrum after the whistle ensues.
The refs decide to take two players from the pile, Lightning defender Sergachev and Leafs defenceman T.J. Brodie.
Keefe was fuming on the bench accusing the refs of making up a call on Brodie.
"You just made that up! You just made that up Chris! You just f--king made it up man! You just f--king made it up! Unbelievable!"
