Immediately, fans and media began making connections between Zadorov and the Leafs - and there's undoubtedly a fit for the defenceman in Toronto. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, even a Leafs player mentioned to Zadorov how much they'd like to have him.
It's not known what player made this recruiting effort towards Zadorov, but they're clearly making the obvious connections that the rest of the hockey world is. With the Leafs under management from the former Flames GM, the team's need for a boost on defence, and the new direction of valuing size, Zadorov would be perfect for the Leafs.
Zadorov, 28 years old, is in the final year of a contract of which he is only owed $3.75M. At 6'6, he's known for his physical play and defensive game, but last season, he had an unlikely offensive outburst for 14 goals. When the Leafs return from their global series games in Sweden, there's potential for a trade to be completed before the trade deadline.
