Mitch Marner isn't known for being a physical player, in fact he's usually seen as the exact opposite. Marner has a reputation which sees him shy away from physical confrontation or play. Today, during a game against the Minnesota Wild, Marner reached his breaking point.
During the second period of today's Global Series game between the Maple Leafs and Wild, Marner became tied up with Joel Eriksson-Ek. As Eriksson-Ek shoves Marner to the ice in front of the net, it's clear Marner isn't a fan. As the puck turns up ice Marner delivers a two handed slash directly to the outside of the knee.
This play likely doesn't reach the level of suspension, but is the sort of play we've seen fined in the past. It will be interesting to see how George Parros addresses this situation, because he has been accused multiple times in the past for having a bias against the Maple Leafs.
