Linesman forced to help injured Team Canada forward off the ice
Colton Dach was drafted 62nd overall by the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2021 NHL Draft. The 6'4 Alberta native is the young brother of Montreal Canadiens' forward Kirby Dach. Unfortunately for the Dach Family, their string of bad luck at the World Juniors continued after Colton suffered a significant injury.
During last night's game against Team Sweden, Colton tried to throw a big hit along the side boards. Unfortunately as soon as he threw the hit it was clear something was wrong. Dach slumped over, grabbed his arm and was in clear distress.
While on the ice Dach did everything he could to get to the bench, but he was unable to reach without some assistance. The linesman on the ice assisted Dach by pushing him towards his bench. Dach's screams while on the ice were difficult to hear.
Dach has had 3 previous shoulder surgeries and this could require another. After the game Team Canada coach Dennis Williams said there was no update on Dach's condition. Hopefully the injury isn't as serious as it looks.
Update: Colton Dach's tournament is over and he has been removed from the roster for Montreal Canadiens prospect Owen Beck.
