Before Brandon Hagel was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Toronto Maple Leafs put together a competitive offer. The Leafs also inquired about Marc-Andre Fleury and tried to get both players in a package deal.

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, the asking price for both players from Chicago were Petr Mrazek, multiple 1st round picks, and top prospect Matthew Knies.
Here's a deal that didn't happen. Chicago and Toronto discussed Hagel and Fleury to the Leafs for Mrazek, Matthew Knies and 1st round picks. Never reached a stage where Fleury was asked officially to waive. Toronto declined based on the futures involved.

Toronto sees promise in Woll and Kallgren and most definitely, Jack Campbell. It was a massive ask on the futures and potentially a portion of those futures can be used on shoring up Toronto's D. Turns outChicago got a huge return for Hagel from Tampa Bay.
The trade obviously never went through but could it be revisit the Fleury situation before the deadline? The Leafs could still use and upgrade in goal so they may go after Fleury again.
