Max Domi gets away with one of the worst embellishments you'll see this year (Video)
An NHL referee is never going to get every single call right, but it's hard to believe that a team of four on ice officials would get something this wrong. During yesterday's Buffalo Sabres versus Chicago Blackhawks game, Max Domi got away with an Oscar worthy embellishment.
The play occured in the 3rd period of the game. As the puck is cleared towards Domi, Rasmus Dahlin brings up his stick in an attempt to knock it down. As Dahlin's stick comes up, Domi not only throws his head back, but he grabs his face like he's been struck.
Dahlin was awarded 2 minutes for high sticking, but in a perfect showing of hockey karma, the Sabres were able to kill the penalty. Not only did they kill the penalty, but they then came back tied the game before winning it in overtime.
It will be interesting to see if Domi receives a fine for his embellishment on the play, but it's unlikely.
