Member of Team Canada provides an update on 2018 assault investigation
The 2018 Team Canada roster has been under the microscope since allegations of a group sexual assault surfaced. All members of the team have felt criticism about their potential involvement. While most players have spoken out there are still a few who haven't issued statements, which is of course, their right.
Victor Mete has shared on multiple occasions that he wasn't involved at all and furthermore wasn't in attendance at the event. Today Mete took his positioning even further by sharing the following:
Earlier today, was voluntarily interviewed by Hockey Canada investigators looking into sexual assault allegations from 2018 that have dominated the news recently.
Notwithstanding the fact that was out of the country on vacation when the Incident under investigation occurred, answered all of Hockey Canada's questions and fully intend to continue cooperating with police, Hockey Canada, and the NHL in their attempts to get to the truth of this matter.
I have also informed Hockey Canada that they can share a copy of my interview with the police and the NHL to help advance these investigations.
Hockey Canada has already made it clear that they intend to ban anyone who refuses to cooperate with their investigation. This ban would not only be for life, but would be a public ban. While lack of cooperation doesn't immediately infer guilt, it is clear Team Canada intends to try and force the player's hands.
