Gary Bettman has deservedly taken criticism during his career as commissioner of the NHL. Bettman more often than not represents the owners in his role and has helped obfuscate the NHL's complicity in the Blackhawks scandal, along with CTE and Concussions.

Allan Walsh has never hesitated to call Bettman out on anything and today was no different.

Walsh criticized the NHL's salary cap, and triple cap system as he showed a graph detailing the lack of NHL players on the highest-paid athlete list provided above.

The salary cap in the NHL is highly regressive, yet touted by many people as bringing parity to the league. The Tampa Bay Lighting winning two cups in a row says otherwise about the so-called parity.

We have raked Bettman over the coals yearly, daily, and weekly and Walsh isn't wrong in this, as the NHL is one of the lower-earning leagues in revenue the NHL has projected $5 Billion or more in earnings in 2021-2022.

The NHL fans have had to continuously eat new forms of ad placement, to continue to enjoy their teams with the hope of keeping their favorite players around, with 2 ads on the jersey now, 1 ad on the helmets, and now digital ad space as well.

To make things even worse take a look at how the top earners in all sports stack up against one and other.
