NHL Cancelling Next Year's All Star Weekend In Exchange For Best-On-Best Tournament
The NHL and NHLPA are reportedly going to announce that they will be holding a four-team international tournament in 2025 that will replace next season's All-Star Weekend. The four participating countries will be Canada, the United States, Finland, and Sweden. This is great news for hockey fans who are over the exaggerated All-Star weekend hype.
Insiders are reporting that the games will take place in both Montreal and Boston. The last best-on-best tournament was almost a decade ago during the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
The NHL didn't participate in the 2022 Winter Olympics. due to the COVID-19 virus. There was speculation that Gary Bettman was looking into not sending his players to the Games in 2026 but in the end it appears the players won the argument.
