NHL being accused of cover up after HUGE expansion news leaks at the perfect time
Fans are accusing the NHL of a cover up after huge expansion news leaks on Wednesday, the timing is just too perfect for it not to be.
The National Hockey League, for the time being, seems pretty content with the amount of teams they currently have after bringing in Vegas and Seattle in 2017 and 2021 respectively.
But on Wednesday, one American city has formally expressed their interest in an NHL franchise and it came just moments after a report from the Globe and Mail stating that five members of Canada's 2018 World Junior team were needing to report to London Police Headquarters to face charges.
With the news that Salt Lake City is wanting an NHL franchise coming just moments after the World Junior report from the Globe and Mail, some fans are accusing the league of a cover up.
"Gary Bettman's first ask of the Smith Entertainment Group is to release this news today to compete for attention with a report on 5 of their players facing sexual assault charges" One fan said.
Another added, "Important to identify the timing here, just minutes after news of the 2018 WJC scandal. Quite clearly intentional from the Smith Group."
It's unclear if and when the NHL will expand again, as the process will first need to be approved by the Board of Governors before formal applications can be submitted to the league.
