NHL finally lifts one of the last remaining COVID protocols ahead of next season
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the NHL was forced to shutdown operations. When the league finally restarted play they implemented many different rules to try and ensure player safety. While over time many of the rules have been lifted few have remained in place.
Now the NHL has finally announced that teams will be required to open their locker rooms to the media, something that has been closed since 2020.
All 32 NHL clubs were notified this week that the league is returning to "normal, pre-pandemic media access regulations."
Clubs were told via email that "locker rooms must be open following all games and practices and al active players must be made available."
Locker rooms have been closed off to the media since March 2020.
This move will no longer allow teams to hide certain players from the media and will force players to account for their actions post game. This will also give fans more intimate access to their favourite teams, something they've been lacking. This move brings the team that much closer to the way the game of was before the league shutdown.
