NHL team to be placed for sale in coming weeks
After both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators have been sold in the last 12 months another NHL team has reportedly hit the market. After Eugene Melnyk passed away last season, his two daughters took over the day-to-day operations over the team. They spent the summer doing everything possible to increase the valuation of the franchise.
The Senators made sure to completely revamp their roster, nearly secure a new arena deal at LeBreton flats and they increased ticket sales exponentially. Now it appears the daughters are finished their work and have officially contacted a sports management company to help assist with the sale.
Today the Senators received a valuation of $650,000,000 and this would be the value the franchise would be looking for via a sale. A new ownership group would most definitely be looking for a secured new arena deal. This will be an interesting development as the team looks for new owners, it had been rumored in the past that Wade Redden and Daniel Alfredsson would be interested in putting together a group to potentially buy the team.
