The Arizona Coyotes are protected by Gary Bettman, they cannot find a stable arena, or sell out for that matter. We saw it in an NHL sized arena and now we're seeing it in a 5,000 seat college arena as well.
According to NHL watcher who relayed NHL attendance statistics across the board, the Arizona Coyotes are still a disappointment.
At this point, it's comical. The Arizona Coyotes still only selling 92% of their tickets at a college arena should be enough of a signal to the NHL that a) they failed, or b) the location they picked isn't close enough to drive fans to games at a rate the NHL needs.
Of course, Bettman will never let the Arizona franchise die, that much is clear, but what's next? At this point with all of his get rich quick schemes for the franchise, he sounds like a dead beat son asking his parents to borrow money for food.
The Coyotes new Tempe Arena does to a Citywide vote in May, but should the NHL even be interested in the market? It truly just doesn't seem viable at this point.
