Nick Foligno's intermission speech helped the Boston Bruins overcome the Pittsburgh Penguins in Winter Classic
It turns out that Boston Bruins forward Nick Foligno had some motivating comments to his team in between periods of the outdoor game on Monday. Foligno is not the oldest guy on the team nor is he the captain of the Bruins, however he has an abundance of NHL experience. He's skated in one thousand and fifty-eight career games. Check out the what he had to say to his fellow teammates.
It's a dream come true. Don't waste it. We're the best third period team in the league.
Let's go prove it.
It turned out that Foligno's comments helped motivate the Bruins as they went out in the third period and scored twice to win the game. Good for Foligno for speaking up. He is right as well. Boston is the best team in the league, and they seized the opportunity to win the game.
Some people might have written Foligno off from being an effective NHL hockey player. However, Foligno has played fairly well, contributed offensively, and has taken a leadership role with Boston. One that is clearly working. Nick might not be the effective goal scoring winger he once was, but he still has value. It's not surprising that the Bruins are firing on all cylinders and playing so well this season. They look like the team to beat this year so far.
