Ottawa Senators prospect appears to suffer significant injury (Video)
Team Canada is currently facing off against the Suisse Team in a quarter finals matchup. With Canada leading 2-1 during the first period, Ottawa Senators prospect Ridley Greig has appeared to suffers a significant injury.
As Greig tried to retrieve the puck in the neutral zone he was hit by a member of the Suisse Team. The contact appeared to occur before Greig was able to touch the puck.
After the hit Greig's arm falls to his side and he is clearly in significant pain. Greig skates immediately to the bench before being evaluated by the medical team. Grieg left the bench and has been ruled out for the rest of the game.
Dr. Harjas Grewal offered up the following information on the potential injury.
Greig out for the rest of the game
Likely a separated shoulder. Time off depends on grade of injury, if lower grade could play semi or final with tape/support and pain management
Mechanism can also cause a broken collarbone (8-12+ weeks) but I think that's less likely
Hopefully Greig manages to escape significant injury and can hopefully be available if Canada advances in the tournament.
