Patrick Roy takes a very personal shot at Carey Price

Carey Price and Patrick Roy are two of the best goaltenders in Montreal Canadiens history. Roy and Price are the last two goaltenders to lead the Canadiens to the Stanley Cup Finals. Despite a mutual respect between the two, Roy and Price don't necessarily agree with each other on everything.

In a recent interview with BPM Sports, Quebec Remparts' General Manager and Head Coach, Patrick Roy took a shot at Carey Price and his choice to be placed on Long-Term Injured Reserve. In 2003, Roy opted to retired with 1-year remaining on his contract rather than being placed on injured reserve. The decision cost Roy, $8,500,000.

I'd rather retire, than say, 'I've got a sore leg, pay up'.

When I retired I had one year left on my contract at $8,500,000 but for me hockey is a passion and I wasn't going to sit there on the injury list and tell the team, my leg hurts, pay me!

While Roy doesn't name names, it's clear that he's speaking about Carey Price, who has only played 5 games over the last 2 seasons, while collecting nearly $20,000,000 in annual pay. Price has 3 more years remaining on his contract, where he will be paid $23,500,000 in additional money.

This begs the question, should Price retire or continue to collect his pay?
