Phil Kessel reportedly nearing a deal with a Canadian team
Phil Kessel was once viewed as one of the best goal scorers in the game, but unfortunately his numbers have fallen off significantly in the past couple years. Part of that due to Kessel simply aging and another component is playing for the Arizona Coyotes. With his Ironman Streak in full swing though, it appears Kessel could be nearing a contract with a Canadian team.
According to Kurt Leavins, both Phil Kessel and the Edmonton Oilers have shared mutual interest and are working towards a contract. Playing alongside Leon Draisiatl or Connor McDavid could definitely prove rather impactful for Kessel's career.
Last season for the Arizona Coyotes, Kessel had 8 goals and 44 assists in 82 games for the Coyotes. Kessel currently sits 1 goal short of scoring the 400th goal of his NHL career.
Kessel currently sits 7 games back or Keith Yandle for the all-time consecutive games played record.
