The City of Philadelphia is without question built differently. The fans will boo Santa Clause and safe landings. The entire city isn't afraid to show their emotions and let everyone know exactly how they feel. But with that passion and emotion usually comes a certain level of respect.

Last night though the city's disdain for management and ownership boiled over in a disrespectful display to one of the team's players.

The Flyers acquired Ryan Ellis from the Nashville Predators on June 17th, 2021. The trade was meant to give a significant boost to the Flyer's defense, unfortunately for Ellis after only 4 games he was hit by a rare injury. The injury has kept him out of the Flyers lineup ever since.

Earlier this month news came out about Ellis injury, revealing the injury that as inoperable and could likely end his NHL career. Ellis shared that he's in constant pain just trying to complete everyday tasks. Despite all those facts Ellis appeared at the Flyer's season opener.

Instead of greeting Ellis with respect he was greeted with a chorus of boos.

Flyers season off to a great start with the fans booing Ryan Ellis who has been battling physically, mentally and emotionally through a possible career-threatening injury 💪

It's understandable that there would be some sort of frustration towards the situation but booing a player who has a potentially career ending injury is a terrible look. But that's not a surprise given a fan base like the Flyers.
