There has been a lot of talk circulating around Pierre-Luc Dubois and his unwillingness to sign a long-term deal in Winnipeg. This has led to speculation that Dubois has his sights set on playing for the Montreal Canadiens. With his current status as an restricted free agent, it seems like it's only a matter of time before the news breaks that PLD will be a Montreal Canadiens.
Yesterday his agent, Pat Brisson, appeared on TVA Sports and finally admitted PLD's desire to play for his childhood team.
Montreal is a city he would probably I can talk about it because he doesn't have a contract at the moment - he's a restricted free agent. Montreal is a place, a city he'd like to play in. That's all I can say about that.
According to Apren Basu from The Athletic, Dubois was in Montreal at this year's draft as he was expecting to be dealt to Montreal over the course of the weekend.
Montreal reportedly tried to send 3 players to Winnipeg in exchange for Dubois but the Jets declined. The deal appears to have stalled as the Jets are requesting a player or asset Montreal is unwilling to move. These comments by Brisson appear to be an attempt to strong arm a deal.
