Pittsburgh Penguins share special video as Evgeni Malkin plays his 1000th career game
The Pittsburgh Penguins did a nice gesture towards their long-time center Evgeni Malkin. Last night was Malkin's 1000th career game. All with the Penguins. Before the team took the ice, the Penguins had Evgeni Malkin's young son read the starting lineup and of course Malkin was the starting center. After reading his dads name out loud, you could see that Geno was emotional and it meant a lot to him. Malkin then went out and scored a in the second period helping his team defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-3.
At thirty-six years old, Evgeni Malkin might not be the same play he once was. He has had an incredible career though. He's helped the Penguins win three Stanley Cups and has one thousand one hundred sixty-six points in one thousand career games. That averages out to be well over a point a game. He's won multiple individual awards and played a huge role in Pittsburgh's success. Even if they don't win another Stanley Cup, it looks like Crosby, Letang, and Malkin will all finish their careers with Pittsburgh and continue to reach impressive achievements together. Congratulations to Geno on a well-deserved milestone.
