Loss of a family member is something that is hard to power through. Just this season, Kris Letang had to deal with the loss of his father and missed a couple games due to that.
Ethan Bear was a healthy scratch the other night for personal family reasons. His girlfriend later revealed on Instagram that the Bear family has lost a family member, their dog.
Some backlash has surfaced on the internet due to this. But, from the other side when you think of it, Ethan Bear is on a losing team and add the loss of their family dog, it's only normal to want to take a day or two off since everything isn't going well.
Former Toronto radio personality had this to say about Bear.
Wait. Ethan Bear is missing a game in the NHL because his dog died??? The NHL????
I have pets I've lost pets. It's not a spouse or a child. It's the NHL.
If someone's family member died.. they should leave theindefinitely, until they feel they're ready to return. What is your opinion on how much time is appropriate for a player on your favorite team after a pet dies? Just the one game? 2?Indefinitely? How do you define it
Which side of the debate are you on? Should Bear have played or is a pet family?
