After winning their first two games of the season earlier this week, the San Jose Sharks seem back to their losing ways - this time in a comical fashion.
In their 4-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks, the Sharks allowed a goal that wasn't even close to expected. Ducks' defenceman Radko Gudas unleashed a shot from the point, which was tipped early, and fluttered into the net over the goaltender in an arc.
It's a rare goal in the NHL that doesn't come from a direct mistake by a player, and instead just by pure puck luck.
More than that, the goal is feels like a microcosm for the entire season so far for the Sharks - unfortunate on every bounce. It's an ultimately meaningless for both teams in a meaningless game between bottom-feeders, but this goal will be remembered as one of the most unfortunate goals against this year.
