After a terrible looking fall into the boards last night that took him out of the game, the New York Rangers have good news and bad news on Kaapo Kakko.
Kakko needed help getting off the ice after this really awkward looking tumble into the boards. You can see his leg bending in a way it shouldn't, while Kakko screams in pain.
The bad news is, Kakko is going to long-term injured reserve (LTIR), although I'm not sure anyone expected anything different after seeing that. The good news, however, is it looks like he may be able to return this season instead of missing the rest of 2023-24.
"Kaapo Kakko suffered a significant lower-body injury last night, but it could have been worse. It's not believed to be season-ending for the #NYR forward.
Adam Fox is expected to be ready to come off LTIR and play tomorrow for #NYR vs. Detroit.
Kakko and Filip Chytil (retroactive to Nov. 3) will be placed on LTIR as part of the roster maneuvering." - Chris Johnston Considering how terrible the fall looked, this is good news for Kakko. The Rangers have not said exactly what his injury is, although a broken leg has to a possibility.
