Rookie calls out nhl on cynical marketing ploys
Defenseman Jordan Harris was drafted in the 3rd Round, 71st overall by the Montreal Canadiens. With a total of 47 NHL games under his belt, his start in the big leagues has been defined by being the next man up on a roster that needs all the help it can get. His transition game has been getting glowing reviews, along with keeping the puck on his teammate's sticks with an above-average for Corsi rating.
Just like his puck-moving abilities, he's also been handy in the fight of calling out the NHL for the cynical league it is.
Harris called out the league's catchphrase: "Hockey is for everyone" as a cynical, money-making ploy, and he alludes to the Provorov and Rangers situation as the reason, hockey hasn't been.
Harris has been one of the very few outspoken players, which says a lot about the league, the players, and their ideas of sticking up for the powerless. Harris has been in the league off and on, going on 2 years now, and signed his ELC in March of 2022.
With his statement, what is sorely missing is backup from players like James Van Riemsdyk and Scott Laughton, to push the Overton window back to where it was after the league's recent regressions.
