Salary cap forcing Penguins to play a defender at forward
The Pittsburgh Penguins open the season, 1st in the Metropolitan Division, despite issues with personnel.
With a record of 3-0-1 you wouldn't think much is really wrong with the Penguins, the big three have been secured and Mike Sullivan is bench boss,
But, maybe the big 3 are the cause for the latest issue:
The Penguins' cap is really tight, as they only have $87,910 in the available salary cap, which means, obviously a tough decision will have to be made, like maybe a defensemen being forced to play forward.
Teddy Blueger is still considered day-to-day, despite the coach giving an update that Blueger is progressing.
As far as Jake Guentzel's status goes, he will travel with the team to Columbus, but he is still being evaluated, after taking a high hit from the Kings infamous ear-biting rat, Brendan Lemieux.
It seems doubtful that either will enter LTIR at this point, so it's a rock and a hard place it is for Sullivan and the Penguins as far as lineup decisions go.
