Ottawa Senators forward Mathieu Joseph has been fined $5,000.00 by the NHL Department of Player Safety after high-sticking New York Islanders defenceman Sebastian Aho on Monday night.

The incident occurred in the third period. Joseph received a two-minute minor for high sticking on the play. While on the powerplay Islanders' forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored to make it 3-1. The Senators made it 3-2 with 6:52 left, but that was as close as they would come. New York scored an empty netter to ice the game 4-2.

The 25 year old, has one goal and two assists over 15 games this season. Joseph signed a 4 year deal, last summer with a AAV of $2,950,000.

After snapping a seven game losing streak on Saturday, they are back to their losing ways on Monday. It has to be disappointing for fans, how bad things have gone so far this season. They sit at the bottom of the Atlantic division with a record of 5-9-1.
