Toronto Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe stated that the team will be without forward Calle Jarnkrok for some time. Jarnkrok has a groin injury and will be reevaluated today. Jarnkrok has played well for Toronto in a bottom six role and had recently transitioned to the top 6 playing with John Tavares and Mitch Marner. In twenty five games played Jarnkrok has five goals and four assists. This will be the first time Jarnkrok has missed a game for the Leafs all year.
The injury bug continues to hover over Toronto. They already have multiple defenseman out of the lineup and now Jarnkrok can be added to the list of injured players. Toronto does have decent forward depth though and should be able to effective find a replacement. Nick Robertson has been in and out of the lineup throughout the year and so has Denis Malgin. Those are both players the Leafs are looking for some more consistent play. Perhaps there is an opportunity for them. Pontus Holmberg has also played mostly on the forth line he also could get some additional playing time.
