There's no doubt the Toronto Maple Leafs are a good hockey team, but the addition of defenceman Mark Giordano, they have been noticeably better.
After a huge 5-2 win over the powerhouse, Florida Panthers, the Maple Leafs' bench bosse Sheldon Keefe was asked if he feels Giordano has made a difference? To which Keefe replied,
It's quite obvious Mark's made a difference especially in our end and giving up less key scoring chances. The last 3 games we've only given up two a game it's clear Giordano has made a impact here already.
The Leafs are 2-1 since the Giordano trade and the only loss came to the Canadiens, in a game where Jake Allen, was almost unbeatable making 49 saves for the Canadiens who only managed 18 shots.
Giordano was traded to the Leafs along with forward Colin Blackwell at the Trade Deadline from the Seattle Kraken in exchange of 3 draft picks a 2022 second round pick, a 2023 second round pick and a 2024 third round pick.
The 38-year-old defenceman has played in 1,007 NHL games scoring 149 goals and adding 383 assists with a plus 80 rating.
The Leafs next challenge is Tuesday night in Boston when the face the red hot Bruins.
