The Calgary Flames have been fairly quiet this off-season and with just over a month left before National Hockey League training camps open, it appears they're focused on re-signing one of their core players to a long term deal, despite trade rumours.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Flames are working on an extension for forward Elias Lindholm that would keep him in a Flames sweater for a long time; take a look.
While the term of the contract isn't yet known, the Flames want to sign Lindholm to a deal worth 8-9 million dollars a season.
Lindholm, 28, skated in 80 games for the Flames last season putting up 64 points including 22 goals and 42 assists while playing in a top 6 role with the team.
8-9 million dollars seems reasonable, especially because Lindholm plays a premium position at centre and we've seen other top centre's sign for around 9 million per season.
This certainly something to keep an eye on, but it sounds like the Flames are interested in keeping Lindholm for the long haul
