The Edmonton Oilers have made a major announcement today, in a bit of a shocker the team announced that Oilers Legend Kevin Lowe has officially stepped down from his positions within the organization.
Lowe has been a Oiler most of his adult life, beginning as a player and then moving into management. Lowe has decided to step down as the Vice Chair and Alternate Governor with the Oilers effective immediately.
However, Lowe will still be a member of the Edmonton Oilers Ambassador team going forward. Lowe was with the Oilers organization for over 40 years. Lowe was a big part of the dynasty years of the 80's when the Oilers were untouchable.
"Kevin Lowe has been an integral part of the Edmonton Oilers for over 40 years and will continue to be connected to the organization as Oilers Ambassador," said Edmonton Oilers Chairman Bob Nicholson in a prepared statement.
Lowe was rightfully inducted into the NHL Hall Of Fame in 2020, and the prestigious Order of Canada in 2021.
