The NHL announces decision on what will happen to the Hockey Canada players cap hit
Despite the league's efforts to appear strong against the four players named in the Hockey Canada scandal, the league has once again made a surprising decision that appears to enable the teams with players involved.
A recent announcement by NHL Insider Darren Dreger indicated that teams involved with the WJC 2018 players on their roster would be given preferential treatment.
This time, the NHL has decided to give a break to the Philadelphia Flyers, New Jersey Devils, and Calgary Flames.
It was likely a break they didn't need, as Carter Hart, Michael McLeod, Cal Foote, and Dillon Dube have all been named and charged.
As a result of being put on leave during the investigation, and as the fallout from the charges continues to pile up, the teams will receive salary cap relief.
Gary Bettman gave salary cap relief to these teams for what reason?
In the end, it seems unfair to other teams in the NHL, who have never had players engage in nonconsensual behavior or have been charged for it.
Does the union contract contain any clauses? Is this a new rule?
