Following the tragic passing of Adam Johnson over the weekend, there's been a major debate about whether or not neck guards should be made mandatory at the professional level of hockey.
While neck guards haven't been made mandatory yet, we've already seen major changes in professional games. Most notably, the AHL's Providence Bruins; take a look.
A number of @AHLBruins played wearing neck guards on Sunday.
This comes after former NHL player Adam Johnson died following a freak accident in an EIHL game
A number of players on the AHL Bruins wore extra protection during their game on Sunday and It's very surprising that neck guards weren't mandated at the pro level before, but they should before too long.
It's great to see players taking quick action after this tragedy, something so simple could end of saving a life. Hopefully more teams other than the baby Bruins follow suit.
