There's been one common theme among Toronto Maple Leafs restricted free agents in recent years, they don't seem to want to sign during the off-season. In fact, it seems as though another RFA is set to miss the start of training camp. Albeit, this restricted free agent doesn't hold the same star power as either Mitch Marner or William Nylander.
Sandin, 22, skated in 51 games with the blue and white last season collecting 5 goals and 11 assists for a total of 16 points. Not the kind of production that warrants a player sitting out for more money.
Listen, I got it when Nylander and Marner held out for more money, but Sandin isn't even in their stratosphere. I think Dubas needs to make an example of the young defensemen. This time around, it's completely unwarranted and selfish.
