The Toronto Maple Leafs are stil trying their best to break their first round curse. The team has lost in the first round in 6 consecutive seasons. Along the way finding different ways to disappoint their fan base.

With a team that is stacked with talent, one would think that on paper, this team is built to compete for the Stanley Cup. But, year over year, they've yet to prove that they don't deserve to win.

According to Elliotte Friedman from Sportsnet, the Maple Leafs are looking to sign Zach Aston-Reese and get that much needed depth and grit that they've been needing for the playoffs.

Zach Aston-Reese signed a PTO this summer with the Maple Leafs in hopes of getting a crack at making the roster. The only issue the Maple Leafs have at the moment remains their cap space and roster size. Currently, they have a full roster of 23 players signed for this year and are over the cap by $2,900,000. If the Maple Leafs are to sign him, they are going to need to move some players out of Toronto just to make room for Aston-Reese.
