Toronto Maple Leafs make major announcement on Sheldon Keefe's future
After a disappointing second round exit and the departure of Kyle Dubas, many felt that head coach Sheldon Keefe could also be on his way out of Toronto. After the hiring of Brad Treliving fans expected the Maple Leafs to head in a different direction. Today the Leafs confirmed that would not be the case.
After multiple conversations with his general manager, it appears that Keefe made a great first impression. Today the Maple Leafs announced a multi-year extension for Keefe.
Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Brad Treliving announced today that the club has signed Head Coach Sheldon Keefe to a multi-year contract extension.
Keefe, who is 42, is the 31st Head Coach in Maple Leafs history. Through four seasons with the team he has coached 267 regular season games. Keefe has posted a record of 166-71-30 in that time, already ranking 6th in wins by a coach.
Since his hiring the Maple Leafs have posted a .622 winning percentage under Keefe, ranking them only behind the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche and Carolina Hurricanes in that time.
