The Maple Leafs have remained quiet about the nature of the injury suffered by Jake Muzzin. The last update provided by the Leafs was simply that Muzzin had traveled with the team to Los Angeles to visit a specialist in regards to his injury. But no other details had been provided.

The injury was suffered in an October game against the Arizona Coyotes when on a seemingly nothing play, Muzzin collided with Clayton Keller. Muzzin fell to the ice, got up slowly, left the ice and would not return. After the incident Muzzin's good friend Mitch Marner shared some cryptic thoughts, simply hoping his friends day-to-day life would not be impacted by the injury. We know now why.

Elliotte Friedman shared the following details:

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that defenceman Jake Muzzin is out indefinitely due to a cervical spine injury. Muzzin's status will be re- evaluated in late February. Muzzin skated in four games with the Maple Leafs this season and recorded one assist.

A cervical spine injury is nothing to play around with and will likely mark the end of Muzzin's NHL career. A true warrior who won the Stanley Cup with the LA Kings, will be remembered for his rugged style, especially if this is the end.
