Two former NHL players heading home to continue their professional careers is Sweden

Two Swedish veterans are returning home to play in the SHL. Defenceman Niklas Hjalmarsson has signed with HV71 and forward Loui Eriksson has signed with Frolunda.

Hjalmarsson leaves the NHL with over 800 games played, 1,600 blocked shots, and three Stanley Cup championships. He suited up for the Chicago Blackhawks and Arizona Coyotes.
Eriksson finishes his NHL career with 1050 games played, 253 goals and 613 points. The 37 year old, was known for signing one of the worst contracts in recent NHL history with Vancouver. On July 1st 2016, Eriksson signed a six year deal worth $36 million. In his best season, he collected 29 points. Eriksson played for the Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks and Arizona Coyotes.
