The Vegas Golden Knights have been dealt a rough hand so far this off-season. Losing their both members of their goaltending tandem with the regular season in sight certainly can't help things, and going into the year with 2 AHL goalies won't help their confidence.
According to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now and NBC Sports, the Golden Knights are prepared to begin the season with a tandem of Logan Thompson and Michael Hutchinson. This comes after it was announced that starting netminder Robin Lehner was ruled out for the season with a hip injury. The Knights believe that backup Laurent Brossoit, who is viewed as ahead of schedule, will still miss at least the first few weeks of regular season hockey.
Logan Thompson, 25, only has 20 National Hockey League games under his belt, but he has held his own quite well with a 10-5-3 record with 1 shutout, a 2.68 goals against average and a .914 save percentage. It remains to be seen how he can handle a regular NHL role though
Hutchinson, 32, has been anything but consistent in his NHL career after a strong start with the Winnipeg Jets, he's mostly been a 3rd or 4th string AHL goalie over the last several years. in 2 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs last year he had a 0-1-0 record with a 4.57 goals against average and a .857 goals against average.
