The Vancouver Canucks have failed to meet expectations this so far this year. With a record of 5-9-3 through 17 games. They sit second last in the pacific division ahead of the lowly Anaheim Ducks. From the sounds of it, the Canucks are getting ready to become sellers.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet on the 32 thoughts podcast, there are only two people on Vancouver's roster that they will not move. Take a look:
I think their only untouchables are Pettersson and Hughes
Though Friedman did mention a third player that's nearly impossible. Thatcher Demko.
Demko is an interesting one. I still think it would take a ton to move him unless the Canucks think for some reason his health won't recover but I think that's a crazy bet to make.
From the sounds of it, the Canucks are putting a huge for sale sign on almost everyone. At this point, I think it's the only thing to do. However, that makes the J.T Miller signing look worse than before.
It'll be interesting to see how far this progresses, kudos to them for putting teams on notice this early though. It wouldn't surprise me if they take the rout of the Blackhawks, tear everything down and collect whatever assets you can. The only thing we can do for now is wait.
