William Nylander's pathetic effort gets called out live on National TV
The Maple Leafs are losing tonight's game 5-0 in Tampa Bay. It appeared right from the opening faceoff that Tampa was ready to play. Clearly the Maple Leafs came into the game unprepared and not willing to compete.
The Leafs have already taken 7 penalties, most a result of a failure to move their feet. But one play that has especially drawn the ire of not just Leafs' fans but of the National Television broadcast was a particular lack of effort by William Nylander.
The play occured late in the 2nd period where Nylander simply chose not to move his feet or take a hit.
As can be heard on the audio, neither Eddie Olczyk and Keith Jones were accepting of this sort of effort. The Leafs are almost guaranteed to lose this game, which will tie the series at 2. But if this is the continued effort by members of the Leafs' Core Four, this team stands no chance in this series.
