Zdeno Chara shares the injuries he played through to win the 2019 Stanley Cup
If you don't believe Zdeno Chara is one of the best defensemen in the history of the National Hockey League, the following may change your mind.
It would appear that during the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals, the 6'9 250 lb Slovak played through a broken jaw, broken elbow, and torn groin.
Hockey fans know that hockey players are built differently, but this has to be one of the more insane stories in the history of the game.
Older Maple Leafs fans may remember that Bob Baun scored a goal on a broken ankle. The defenceman came back in overtime to even the series three games a piece which the Maple Leafs eventually won to secure their third consecutive Stanley Cup of their era.
Chara, who is the tallest player in National Hockey League history finished his career playing in 1680 games, contributing 209 regular season goals and 471 regular season assists.
Chara won the James Norris Trophy as the league's best defenceman in 2009 while helping the Boston Bruins win the 2010-2011 Stanley Cup Championship; their first since 1972.
