With NHL training camps set to get underway in a few days, reports are circulating that the Anaheim Ducks may have a no-show on their hands. The 32-year-old veteran is most likely to be traded this season as the Ducks continue adding more young blood to their team, but it seems he wants his fate decided before the 2024-25 season gets underway.
As pointed out by Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Cam Fowler has a four-team trade list that is included in his current deal, which carries a $6.5 million AAV and remains in effect until the end of the 2025-26 season. However, he's already expressed an interest in talking to more teams in order to get something done now, rather than waiting until the 2024-25 trade deadline.
Jordan Schmaltz appeared on the Missing Curfew podcast this week stating that Cam Fowler is so adamant about getting traded that he's considering now showing up for training camp if he has to remain with the Anaheim Ducks.
Cam Fowler was a first-round draft pick, 12th overall of the Anaheim Ducks back in 2010, and has spent his entire NHL career with the team. Going into the 2024-25 season, Fowler is just 26 games shy of hitting 1000. While he's been a big part of the franchise over the years on the backend, the team is still very much in rebuild mode and a defenceman like Fowler could fetch some good assets on the market.
