With NHL play on hold due to the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament focus has turned to the international stage.
Tonight news from abroad has confirmed that 2nd round pick of the Anaheim Ducks Damian Clara will be looking for a new home this week after having his contract terminated by Farjestad BK.
With Clara being released this is the latest setback in his development path toward a potential NHL debut with the Anaheim Ducks.
This season with Farjestad Clara played 19 games with a 9-10-0 record and an 879 SV% during his time in the SHL.
Now with his contract terminated Clara will be looking for a new team and reports seem to already have a good idea of where he will be heading for the rest of the year.
According to further reports, Clara will now be looking at a potential move to Finland to play in Liiga.
The move will be facilitated by the Ducks who think moving to Finland will be the best decision for the 20-year-old Italian.
Clara will now look to get back on track after he signs in Finland and prove that he belongs amongst the top prospects in the NHL.
Beyond that Clara will also be working to show his home country of Italy that he deserves a spot on the national team when the 2026 Olympic Games head to Cortina Milano.
Over the next couple of days we will be following this story as Clara and the Ducks officially confirm the next steps for his career.
