Hello, nice to meet you, Mr. Kane. My name is Connor Bedard, and I'm the new kid in the Windy City. Welcome home, but have a seat.
On Sunday night during the Red Wings visit to the United Centre, the first overall pick in last summer's National Hockey League Entry Draft showed the elder Kane, who is the more dominant player in this stage of their respective careers, by checking the future hall of famer and arguably the best American to play in the National Hockey League, even if the hit may have been a bit high.
As a student of the game and a fan for over 35 years, watching the passing of the torch is really cool to see, even if Kane isn't playing for the Blackhawks anymore. What is apparent are two things.
Even if Kane is a bit older and a bit slower, he's still got it, and Connor Bedard is as advertised and will be one of the faces of the league for decades to come.
