The passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau continues to reverberate around the hockey world. With more and more players, personnel and fans sharing their thoughts on the unimaginable tragedy that took both Gaudreau brothers from this world far too soon.
Now, Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid has opened up and shared his thoughts on who Johnny Gaudreau was as a person, and competitor.
McDavid noted that the hockey world as a whole will miss him, but that on a personal level, he'll miss him as well. McDavid continues by saying that he's grateful he had the opportunity to play against him for many years in the battle of Alberta when the Edmonton Oilers would play the Calgary Flames. In doing so, McDavid got to know Gaudreau and his fiery, competitive spirit, but also how Gaudreau was away from the rink and the game of hockey as well.
It's safe to say, the lasting impact Johnny Gaudreau had on the NHL and the game of hockey in general was immeasurable.
This tragedy has created a void that will never be filled.
