Department of player safety announces hearing after Monday night games
During last night's game between the Calgary Flames and Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames centre Martin Pospisil hit Seattle Kraken defenseman Vince Dunn from behind while the defenseman's back was turned.
Today, word dropped that National Hockey League Player Safety would like to have a discussion to talk about the incident and the possibility of any supplemental discipline.
Pospisil, who was assessed seventeen total minutes in penalties during the game, knows his role and tends to play on the edge, but a play like the one in question is dangerous, and it is known historically that the result can cause serious injury.
What is not known is the extent of the punishment, but as it doesn't appear to be an in-person hearing, you can expect a suspension of less than five games and possibly a fine that amounts to a slap on the wrist.
