Department of Player Safety punishes Trouba for elbow on Rodrigues
The NHL's Department of Player Safety has decided to punish Jacob Trouba of the New York Rangers for an elbow on Evan Rodrigues that was called a minor penalty
Jacob Trouba of the New York Rangers in being punished for an obvious elbow on Evan Rodrogues of the Florida Panthers during game 3 of the Eastern Conference Final of he 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, it is not the punishment many will be looking for, coming in the form of a fine and not a suspension.
"NY Rangers' Jacob Trouba has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for elbowing Florida's Evan Rodrigues."
Rodrigues attempted to deke around Trouba in the Rangers end on game 3, leaving Trouba with more distance between him and Rodrigues than he wanted. Trouba extended his arm and hit Rodrigues with an elbow to the face. The hit has been the subject of a ton of discussion on social media and whether a major penalty should have been given on the play.
