The hockey world mourns the loss of 21 year old O'Shea Red Crow, who lost his life following a fall from a Calgary high-rise.
The sports world mourns the loss of 21 year old Siksika Nation hockey player O'Shea Red Crow, who died after falling from a Calgary high-rise.
He had most recently played for the Siksika Buffaloes of the Ranchland Hockey League, and had also previously played for the Strathmore Wheatland Kings of the Heritage Junior Hockey League and the Vernal Oilers of the United States Premier Hockey League.
The Vernal Oilers memorialized his memory with a special statement on X:
With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the passing of former Oiler O'Shea Red Crow at the age of 21. O'Shea arrived in Vernal during the 22/23 season and instantly became a fan favorite. Our condolences go out to the Red Crow family, his teammates, and the entire Siksika community.
Police arrived on the scene at the 1100 block of Third Street S.E. just after 5:00 AM on June 1; Red Crow later passed away at a local hospital.
The Wheat Kings released the following statement of sympathy and remembrance:
He was a quiet presence in the room, soft-spoken, humble, and always respectful. While he may not have been the loudest voice on the team, he was part of our brotherhood, and his loss is deeply felt by those who shared the ice with him,» the Kings wrote of Red Crow's time with them.

Red Crow had a pair of stints with the Wheat Kings, scoring a total of 21 points (5G, 16A) in 60 games. This year with the Buffaloes, he had 7 points (2G, 7A) in 14 games played, while also scoring 21 points (8G, 13A) in 2022-23 in 22 games with the Oilers.
